About Us & FIRST

About Us

We are Team Titanium from Lee's Summit West High School, in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Our name is derived from our school mascot - the Titan. In our four years of FRC competition we have participated in FIRST competitions held in St. Louis, Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis, and Atlanta for various tournaments.

Many sponsors have helped us throughout our various endeavors, and we are very grateful to them. Our team is coached by Mr. Spatz and Mrs. Spatz, and Mr. Bailey. We have many more teachers and engineers that also mentor and help us succeed each year, and their support is also appreciated.

In our five short years of competition in FIRST, we have been very fortunate in our success, winning numerous awards and tournament placements. Our tournament success would not have been possible without excellent alliance partners, to whom a tremendous thanks goes out to. The awards and placings include:

  • 3 Regional Innovation in Control Awards
  • 2 Dean's List Finalists
  • 2 Regional Finalist Awards
  • Regional Chairman's Award
  • 2 Regional Winner Awards
  • Industrial Design Award
  • Website Award
  • Engineering Inspiration Award
  • Championships Division Finalist
  • Championship Innovation in Control Award
  • 2 Industrial Design Awards and Winning Alliance at our region's off-season event

We would like to thank FIRST for providing a challenge to bring us together and inspire teamwork. In taking on the FIRST Robotics Challenge, we have been able to experience real-world engineering situations. We have overcome challenges to reach our goals. We have also found out how to work with other teams in the spirit of gracious professionalism.

To other robotics teams; we hope you demonstrate the idea of gracious professionalism like other teams have demonstrated towards us, and we will do our best to do the same. Good luck this year at the competitions!

Team Titanium values the opinion of each team member. As an exercise in understanding the goals of FIRST, we have asked each student, coach, and mentor on our team to tell us what Gracious Professionalism means to them.
